Doug was born in Charleston,SC, but moved to North Carolina where he grew up in Rocky Mount and Fayetteville.
He attended Wake Forest University, graduating with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. He was recruited into retail merchandising by Sears Roebuck & Co, holding positions at Store,Region,and National Management levels culminating in his appointment to the position of National Manager, Replenishment Policy,Procedures and Systems for all retail stores and distribution facilities.
Upon retiring from Sears, Doug and his wife returned to the North Carolina coastal area of Southport, where they reside in St. James Plantation.
